In the beginning, Instagram sotries seemed out of place. Why take a short clip of your day and share it to Instagram when there is a dedicated app for that? People felt overwhelmed with having to take a snap, check in on Facebook and now post an Instagram story. Each generation seemingly has a smaller attention span then the last. Users move from app to app like a school of fish. Enter Instagram stories.

People who never made the jump to Snapchat really don’t need to. Snapchat stories are filled with ads, clickbait and poor user experience. Instagram has taken a large step up on Snapchat’s shoulders. Instagram stories now allows users to skip forward, back, and even freeze the story. Instagram stories also supports live streaming, boomerang, stickers, filters, face filters, friend tagging and even links to external websites.

Snapchat Vs. Instagram Stories

Did you know Facebook owns Instagram? Many people still don’t know that. According to Facebook, Instagram stories has 250 million daily users. Snapchat has 166 million. The biggest achievement for Instagram stories is the ease with wich you can watch anyones story. Snapchat you would need to memorize your favorite persons username.

In the end, the data speaks for itself. Snapchat and Instagram have been around for several years now, the writing may be on the wall. Facebook is a company trying to be the internet. I appreciate what Snapchat has done, and the innovation they achieved, but let’s face it. Facebook is one tough cookie.
